About Our Practical Nursing Program

Program Overview
At South Florida Healthcare Institute, we believe in a hands-on approach to learning. Our Practical Nursing program introduces students to the clinical environment early in the curriculum. The integration of theory and clinical procedures enhances the learning experience, providing a well-rounded education. The program encompasses classroom theory, practical laboratory experiences, and supervised clinical training, ensuring students develop the necessary skills and knowledge.
Accreditation and Licensure
Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a diploma in accordance with the standards set by the Florida Department of Education. Graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN licensure examination, and upon passing, the Florida Board of Nursing will issue a license.
Our Practical Nursing program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing, and the curriculum is accredited by the Florida Department of Education. This accreditation ensures that our program meets the highest educational standards, providing students with a solid foundation for their nursing careers.

Program Objective
- Demonstrate behaviors that comply with rules and statutes set forth in the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Florida.
- Apply nursing principles to meet the daily physical, social, and psychological needs of the patient.
- Perform nursing measures with accuracy, safety, and efficiency, consistent with current nursing concepts and practices in different healthcare settings.
- Function as a responsible member of the nursing team concerned with basic therapeutic, rehabilitative, and preventative care for persons of all ages and diverse cultures.
- Demonstrate professional competencies consistent with the practical nursing code of ethics.
- Demonstrate appropriate employability skills.
Program Description
The Practical Nursing program is designed to equip students with the essential skills for providing fundamental bedside care, which is crucial in attending to the needs of every patient they encounter. As aspiring Practical Nurses, students will be proficient in recording vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. They will also master proper procedures for sample collection, conduct routine laboratory tests, and administer medications. Throughout their training, Practical Nursing students play a key role in evaluating patient needs, actively contributing to the development of precise care plans under the supervision of registered nurses and guidance from physicians. The comprehensive coursework and training provided will ensure students are well-prepared to successfully navigate the NCLEX-PN Licensing exam.
