About Our Nursing Assistant Training Program

Our Nursing Assistant Training Program is approved by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Board of Nursing. Our program is 120 hours in total, of which 40 hours are completed online, 40 hours consist of lab experience, and 40 hours are dedicated to a hands-on, supervised clinical practicum. Our tuition is all-inclusive, meaning we provide you with everything you need, such as books, supplies, uniforms, student liability insurance, state examination fees, plus more. This course will provide students with insights into common nursing practices to follow in the workplace, such as clear communication, responsibility, innovative and creative problem-solving, professional work ethics and behavior, and using technology to improve productivity. We’d recommend nursing assistants looking to work in the field enroll in this state-approved CNA program, as many employees are likely to prefer prospective employees with the proper training and qualifications.

What is the schedule for the Nursing Assistant Training Program?

South Florida Healthcare Institute offers a hybrid 4-week, 120-hour Nursing Assistant Program. We utilize ReadyCNA, which is a comprehensive cloud-based training program to prepare students for careers as certified nursing assistants. The program revolves around “The Residents,” a three-hour, Hollywood-quality movie that depicts the life of a newly hired CNA. The training is complemented by animated simulations, informative video interviews with real-life medical personnel, 180 content videos, quizzes, and practice tests. ReadyCNA goes beyond helping students learn required skills and achieve CNA certification. It also prepares them for the emotional and interpersonal challenges of the job – as well as its rewards.

Weeks 1 and 2 are completed online at home (self-paced). Week 3 is lab activities, and it is completed at our school, Monday-Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Week 4 is clinical, and it is completed at a skilled nursing facility or hospital in Palm Beach county, Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

You must attend all lab and clinical days to graduate.

Do I have to take an examination after I graduate to become licensed as a CNA?
Yes, you must only take a written test through Prometric, once you graduate. Your program director will work with you to apply for your examination during week 3 of your program. As of July 1, 2023, students who have successfully completed a board-approved certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program are exempt from having to take the clinical skills portion of the licensure exam.
Do I need to be vaccinated by COVID-19 to complete the Nursing Assistant Training Program?
No, COVID-19 vaccines are no longer required.
Why should I register with your school, and how is your program different from a CNA Prep Class?
South Florida Health Care Institute is licensed and approved through the Florida Board of Nursing and the Florida Department of Education, which is very important to prospective job employers. That is also important for students who are continuing their education. LPN and RN schools want prospective students to have graduated from a CNA school that is approved and licensed. Many times, job employers will not hire someone who completed a “CNA Prep Class” because those types of programs are not approved, nor do they conduct a clinical portion.
