For example, a stroke is a medical emergency that happens suddenly. The acronym F.A.S.T would help you easily remember the early warning signs of a stroke. F.A.S.T stands for:

  • F – Face.If the person is having a stroke, one side of their face may appear droopy.
  • A – Arms.Ask the person to raise both their arms and look for signs of weakness. They may be unable to lift one arm or one arm may drift downward.
  • S – Speech.Difficulty speaking or slurred speech can indicate a stroke.
