Medical emergencies happen suddenly and often catch us by surprise. When these emergencies happen, our instinct is to call a medical professional. But when you have medical or even first aid training such as our CPR and BLS training in Boca Raton, Florida, you can be that medical professional who can help during a medical emergency.

There are a variety of medical emergencies that could happen. This is why we provide training and certifications such as CPR training in Boca Raton, Florida to educate more people about responding to these kinds of emergencies. For example, a stroke is a medical emergency that happens suddenly. The acronym F.A.S.T would help you easily remember the early warning signs of a stroke. F.A.S.T stands for:

  • F – Face. If the person is having a stroke, one side of their face may appear droopy.
  • A – Arms. Ask the person to raise both their arms and look for signs of weakness. They may be unable to lift one arm or one arm may drift downward.
  • S – Speech. Difficulty speaking or slurred speech can indicate a stroke.
  • T – Time. If you observe any of the above symptoms, call 9-1-1 or any immediate medical help. When you have proper training such as our BLS certification in Fort Lauderdale Florida, you can also provide help to the patient while waiting for the emergency response.
